Frequently asked questions for stays at Self Catering Accommodation Belfast

What time is check in & check out?

1.00 pm check in and 10.00 am check out please, but we will of course try to accommodate you outside these hours provided we do not have a guest either waiting to check in or about to leave

I'm flying into Belfast - how much does it cost to get to you and what is the best route?

Please remember there are 2 airports in Belfast - Belfast International Airport (sometimes locally called Aldergrove) and Belfast City Airport recently renamed George Best Airport. Both run buses to the Europa Bus Centre in Great Victoria St which is only around 5 minutes walk to the apartment. The Dublin bus stops at Jury's Hotel in Belfast which is right beside the Europa Bus Centre also

Please note that taxis which sit outside the airport terminal buildings are un-metered and have been known to overcharge. Our advice is to ring a taxi from Value Cabs on 02890 809080 on arrival at the airport (or organise this prior to arrival) and use this properly metered service. Their fleet of cars are never far from either of the 2 airports

How far is it from a supermarket?

Tesco's Express is less than 1 minute walk so it's like having your own larder round the corner. It's open from 7.00 am to 11.00 pm 7 days a week and has a chemist beside it

How often are the towels and bedding changed?

If your stay is longer than 1 week, we will come in and change the towels and bedding on a weekly basis. Of course we will respect your privacy and if you wish we can leave the towels and linen for you to change yourself

Do you clean the apartment during our visit?

No, we will only change the towels and bedding and clean on your departure

Is there car hire nearby and can you recommend any?

Self Catering Accommodation Belfast have now negotiated a very special scheme for car hire with Europcar. Why Europcar? Because we believe they can bring both great service and with our negotiated discount on top of their already discounted internet price, a very competitive product

Additional benefits over and above their standard service include –
10% discount off the standard internet rates including extras
Additional driver allowed at no extra cost
Free car drop off to our apartments or offer to drive back to base
Guest may use their own excess waiver insurance (advisable)
Car can be picked up locally from Durham St or either Belfast airport
Car can be taken over the border to Southern Ireland without extra charge

We are not involved in any contractual relationship between Europcar and the hirer and it is therefore up to the hirer to read all terms and conditions of this offer and satisfy themselves that it is the appropriate product

10% off Europcar Car Hire prices when visiting Belfast

What is the nearest train station terminal to the apartment?

The nearest station is Botanic (NIR) Rail Station which is around 5 minutes walk from the apartment

Is there anywhere you'd particularly recommend us to visit in Belfast?

There are so many different places to visit in Belfast that it depends on your preferences and interests however prior to and during your stay we will advise as best we can based on your choices. We are also preparing a 'Favourite Things' and continually adding to it

Is there internet access?

There is both a PC and wireless internet access so if you bring a laptop you will be able to log on with the code I supply on arrival or use the PC provided

How do you cater for guests of varied faiths and religions?

We respect and welcome guests from all faiths, religions and backgrounds and try to ensure we do everything to enhance their stay. For example, in relation to Muslim followers of the Islam faith, on request we aim to provide details of the nearest Mosque, halal shops nearby & a prayer schedule. We will also aim to provide miswaks / siwaks as part of our welcome pack. Further requests / comments can also be considered from all faiths and religions. A bible is available on request

Where is the nearest tourist information office?

It is the BVCV (Belfast Visitor & Convention Bureau) 47 Donegall Place - about 10 minutes walk from the apartment or at Queen University, about the same distance in the opposite direction

I have a balance to pay on arrival, what payment methods do you accept?

Although we have started to take cards, we would prefer cash please as we otherwise have to make a surcharge of 3% on card payments. We're not happy about this but with card providers charging up to 4.5% plus terminal hire, etc it's an overhead which we have to pass on. You will NOT have been charged a surcharge on the deposit though. It may also help to know there is an ATM about a minutes walk from the apartments

What currency do you accept? For example, do you take Euro?

Sorry but we can only accept UKcurrency which is the British Pound / Sterling. We do not accept the Euro

Do you supply a welcome pack?

Yes, on arrival there will be tea, coffee and biscuits as refreshments

Do I need to bring towels?

No, we supply hand and bath towels

Can you advise on mobile phone use and cost?

Belfast is part of the UK and as long as you stay within N.Ireland and have a UK number you should not incur roaming costs. We can provide a mobile phone and SIM card on request. There is no charge for this, but you will need to 'top up' if you want to make calls

What washing / cleaning materials do you supply?

We supply washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, washing machine powder, hand wash and soap
